Running Gait Analysis
Move beyond a slow-motion video. Understand how you run, how each side behaves, and where meaningful opportunities may exist.
A running gait assessment at Adams Peak Performance combines video, wearable running data, and an athlete-centered interpretation of movement. We look for patterns—not cosmetic perfection. The objective is to understand how you interact with the ground, identify meaningful asymmetries or movement strategies, and determine whether changes in mobility, strength, technique, or training may improve performance or running durability.
What APP Looks At
Cadence and step characteristics.
Ground-contact and flight-related metrics when available.
Left-to-right symmetry and meaningful asymmetries.
Impact and loading characteristics from available sensor data.
Step length, step height, and foot-strike behavior.
Overstride and tibial position at contact.
Crossover gait and step width.
Pelvic control, pelvic drop, and hip mechanics.
Hip flexion at contact and hip extension during propulsion.
Knee position and knee flexion through key phases of gait.
Ankle mechanics and dorsiflexion.
Foot swing and lower-leg movement.
Running form from lateral and posterior video views.
Technology With Context
APP may incorporate RunScribe and video-based analysis along with relevant athlete history, training load, pace, terrain, and goals. Technology gives us measurements; coaching gives those measurements meaning. We avoid changing mechanics simply because a number falls outside an arbitrary ideal.
Adams Peak Performance combines expert coaching with objective biomechanical data. Depending on the athlete and assessment, we use Runeasi, RunScribe and Aletheia Run to evaluate how the body absorbs, controls and produces force while running.
Runeasi: Assesses impact loading, dynamic stability, reactivity, symmetry and changes in running mechanics.
RunScribe: Uses bilateral foot-mounted sensors to examine each foot independently, including contact mechanics, shock, efficiency, motion and left-to-right differences.
Aletheia Run: Creates a three-dimensional “Force Portrait” to help visualize braking, impact, lateral movement, symmetry and changes that occur as fatigue develops.
These technologies complement video gait analysis, strength testing and the coach’s interpretation. Athletes receive practical recommendations—not simply a collection of numbers.
Why It Matters
Running form is highly individual. The purpose of gait analysis is not to make every athlete look the same. It is to identify patterns that may be increasing unnecessary demand, limiting efficiency, contributing to recurrent problems, or representing an opportunity for performance improvement.
From Assessment to Action
The assessment should lead to something useful. APP connects findings to specific recommendations such as strength work, mobility, drills, cadence strategies, running cues, workload considerations, or further assessment when appropriate.
What You Receive
A detailed review of running mechanics.
Video-based observations from relevant views.
RunScribe or other available sensor metrics and interpretation.
Identification of meaningful strengths, asymmetries, and areas to address.
Individualized mobility, strength, drill, or technique recommendations.
A report that can serve as a baseline for future reassessment.
Who This Is For
Healthy runners seeking performance insight, runners returning to training, athletes with recurring gait concerns, and runners who want a more objective understanding of how they move.
